Katherine Blake, born into a very conservative, Catholic atmosphere, is a Pittsburgh-based artist interested in sexuality and gender, as well as the various institutions that limit them. Her primary mediums are performance and painting, but she also enjoys working in video and music. In third grade, Katie got kicked out of class for drawing her first naked woman, a moment that would not only leak into, but also catalyze, the rest of her artistic career. When she’s not making art or causing controversy, she likes to play with her cat. For breakfast, she likes to eat creamed chipped beef, but if time does not allow it, she is also fine with grabbing a piece of fruit. Other talents of hers include, but are not limited to, twerking, piercing, streaking, and French inhaling.
